Student reviewed for a test today and were told exactly what would be on the test and even practiced it a bit in class. Students also wrote introductions for a grade and should have them done in the next couple of days. Test day will be Friday and Monday.

Literary terms quiz went well today! We read Hamlet and next class will be a prose day.

11-5-12

We started Hamlet today. Students will complete a stand and deliver literary terms quiz next time. Students should have a research essay on anti-transcendentalism in their drive too.

Students completed a timed writing today about Scarlet Letter and also answered 10 AP style multiple choice questions. We'll be starting Hamlet next class.

Today students discussed literary terms 2 and were told about a quiz. Students also created short prezis on a Hawthorne short story.

Today students discussed Hawthorne's style. We also took a quiz on literary terms 2. The students were assigned the first six chapters of The Scarlet Letter for Thursday.

We watched a couple of short TED clips on metaphor and poetry. We talked about looking for metaphor in poetry and other literature. Students are to read some AP poetry analysis over the weekend to prepare for an essay. Students also received a rubric for the poetry project.

Students wrote a short summary of their reading today from Jane Eyre. We discussed some important ideas from their reading. Students had an online discussion concerning Jane Eyre. We discussed a poem for a few minutes near the end of class. Students are reading the Gateshead section of Jane Eyre for next week.

We talked about the poetry section of the AP test and the essay. Students looked at an idea for the poetry project as well as learning a bit about imagery. Students worked on poetry projects and had some time to read Jane Eyre. Read through the Lowood section for next class. (wed.)

We talked about expectations for the Poetry Project. Students wrote a quiz for Jane Eyre. Groups discussed Jane Eyre for a whole class discussion next class. Novel Cards will be due before the end of the week. This was assigned as a weekly project two weeks ago.

Today we did more talking/learning about poetry. We talked about cacophony, euphony, persona, lyric, and narrative. We started Jane Eyre and will be reading the first five chapters for next Tuesday. Novel Cards are due next time.
